I absolutely love being a family photographer in Houston TX. And now I have the pleasure of offering another beautiful service to my clients: birth photography!
After experiencing the birth of our second son with the midwives at the Katy Birthing Center in Katy, TX, I knew, I just knew, I wanted to be a part of that magic again some day.
Little did I know the next time I would step foot inside the birthing center it would be through the lens of my camera!
I've birthed two boys naturally. I know the pain. I know the journey. I know the blessing and joy. Embarking on this new service as JSP is a true honor.
And so it was, on a gorgeous Saturday morning, I received the call from my first birth photography clients that they were officially in labor.
Erica and Trey were so peaceful together, rocking back and forth in the birthing pool, each contraction bringing their baby girl closer and closer. The hum of Erica's birthing song filled the room, everyone expectant, everyone ready, everyone at peace.
Here's the story of their labor in pictures. Enjoy!
(Note: the images below are of a woman in labor and will be revealing. Please be kind and respectful if you choose to comment. Thank you.)
Nightfall came and after 30+ hours of hard labor (she was amazing!) it was decided to transfer Erica and Trey to the midwives' partnering hospital so they could get some much needed rest before the final stage of Erica's labor. Sweet baby Alba, welcome earthside!
I am still in awe of everything I experienced during this birth photography session and can't wait to capture more births in the year to come.
